Welcome to Bradford on Avon, Fairtrade Town since 2003, the first in Wiltshire. Our aim is to do all we can to redress unfair trade restrictions on developing countries by raising awareness of Fairtrade and increasing local people's access to the whole range of excellent Fairtrade products.
There is an active local group carrying these aims forward.
Mirror, mirror on the wall........who is the fairest of them all?
We are updating the highly successful 2008 Directory and we want to make sure all local businesses, cafés. restaurants, pubs, workplaces, schools, places of worship, clubs,B&B's and hotels are included.
If you use Fairtrade and you're not already in the Directory, contact Viv Kynaston at 01225-863647 or vivkynaston@btinternet.com
Once again we joined with Sainsbury's to celebrate World Fairtrade Day, which is organised by the International Fairtrade Association (IFAT), a global network and advocate for Fair Trade, ensuring producer voices are heard. We had a good day with lots of encouragement from shoppers, who were keen to taste Fairtrade food samples and pick up copies of the Directory. It is wonderful to see how many more people are aware of Fairtrade and already choose it when they shop.

Our local Sainsbury's is a great friend of Fairtrade, and has worked with us on many in-store events. In recent years Sainsbury's nationally has committed to selling exclusively Fairtrade bananas and Fairtrade Red Label Tea, and the Chief Executive has set up a development fund of £6million over 4 years, in conjunction with Comic Relief. This is excellent news for Fairtrade producers, and shows that Sainsbury's know their customers value ethical shopping.
Go to the Cottage Cafe, get your Fairtrade drink and some delicious homemade food, then go upstairs and turn right.
In the corner you will see lots of information and materials you can use. Take any leaflets you need, and if you want to borrow other stuff sign it out in the book.
This resource centre is for anyone in the town, such as individuals, schools and young people, and other groups who want to promote Fairtrade.
